Bob Toney goes home to Glory December 30, 2002
DALLAS, TX(Press Release) - Early Saturday morning, December 28th, the Lord took Bob Toney home to Glory. Bob was taken to the hospital on Thursday, December 20th, with an internal infection. The infection was the result of a weakened immune system compounded by dehydration. Bob's system was weakened after undergoing steroid treatments required after his recent brain surgery.
Bob Toney was one of the founding members of the Toney Brothers Quartet in 1955 and had the privilege of singing on the first National Quartet Convention in Memphis, TN at the Ellis Auditorium in 1957. Bob was the last original member who still traveled every mile with the group until his recent surgery in November.
His leadership, lifestyle, and testimony can be summed up by his own words when told about his brain tumor, "I'm either going to go home with my family or I get to go home with the Lord. Either way it's a win-win situation for me."
In Bob's 47 years of music ministry he has recorded over 50 albums and sang in 38 states across the country. There will be a time of family visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, TX, on Monday December 30th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral will be held on December 31st at the First Baptist Church of Allen in Allen, TX.

New Gaither Homecoming Freinds video released December 30, 2002
(Press Release) - What's It Like In Heaven? That's a question that has been pondered throughout time, and it is only through our faith, and the cornerstone of that faith God's Word manifested in the Bible that we are provided even a clue as to what awaits us on the other side. Since the events of September 11, 2001, Heaven has been much on the minds of many people. Now Bill Gaither and a host of his Homecoming Friends attempt to paint a picture of our Heavenly home in two 90-minute videos: Heaven and Going Home.
"Heaven Home that destination beyond what our eye can see," says host Bill Gaither. "It's been on the mind of poets, philosophers and preachers for centuries. In these two videos, we will explore Heaven together through the words of people as diverse as Mark Twain all the way to Billy Graham, and through music ranging from folk to Gospel. There'll also be wonderful stories told by people I'm honored to know." He continued, "We've gathered the Homecoming Friends together to sing songs that bring us a glimpse of eternity. We've also consulted the writings of our most cherished thinkers. It's a concept unlike anything we've done before."
Joining Bill are dozens of the Homecoming friends, including the Gaither Vocal Band, Gloria Gaither, Squire Parsons, Jake Hess, George Younce, Janet Paschal, the Martins, Mark Lowry, Jeff & Sheri Easter, the Florida Boys, Sue Dodge, the Hoppers, the Isaacs, the Goodmans, Eva Mae LeFevre, Babbie Mason, Allison Dunham Speer, Amy Lambert, Terry Blackwood, Ivan Parker, Ann Downing, Ernie Haase, Ben, Mary Tom and Rosa Nell Speer, Karen Peck & New River, Joni Eareckson Tada, Tanya Goodman Sykes, the Talley Trio, Kelly Nelon and her daughter, Amber Thompson, Dottie Rambo, and dozens more. And that's just the singers. Theologians, philosophers, songwriters, poets, authors, painters, fathers, mothers, children and more attempt to capture Heaven's awe-inspiring beauty in words and stories. These include Billy Graham, Ann Graham Lotz, Zig Ziglar, Sheila Walsh, Jack Hayford, Adrian Rogers, Steve Brown, Robert Benson, David Ring, among others.
As with all Gaither videos, there is a wide selection of favorite songs. On these new releases, you'll find "I Am Bound For The Promised Land," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "When We See His Face," "When We All Get To Heaven," "Canaan Land Is Just In Sight," "When They Ring Those Golden Bells," "Sweet Beulah Land," "Look For Me," "How Beautiful Heaven Is," "Glad Reunion Day," "He's Not Here," "Knowing You'll Be There," "That Beautiful Morning By The River of Life," and many, many more.
A one-hour special of "Heaven" can be seen on PAX-TV on Saturday, January 25th at 7:00pm ET/6:00pm CT while "Going Home" can be seen on PAX-TV on Saturday, February 1st at the same times. The home videos will be available by phoning 1-800-955-8746 and at local retail stores including Wal-Mart, Target and Christian bookstores. See you at the house, indeed
