Mark Trammel to leave Gold City April 29, 2002
Gold City has released the following statement:
Mark Trammell has announced his resignation from Gold City to pursue a ministry in evangelism, something the Holy Spirit has been dealing with him for some time now. Mark, being an ordained minister, has surrendered to the call of evangelism, and has plans to eventually hire a couple of men to assist him with his new ministry. We covet your prayers for Mark and his family as they move out into this work of faith.
Daniel Riley will be taking Mark's place as baritone for Gold City in early summer. Daniel has had the opportunity to fill in for Jonathan Wilburn and Mark in the past, and his ability speaks for itself. As always, we covet your prayers for our ministry, and thank you for your continued love and support.
Tim Riley Gold City
Mark Trammell joined Gold City in January of 1994, with a history of experience in the Southern Gospel Music industry. A native of Arkansas, he knew as a young child what he wanted to do when he grew up. Mark got his start singing with his brother and a couple of friends known as "The Arkansas Boys." In 1975, he went to play bass guitar for another part time group, "The Senators," but the same weekend he was to start with them, their lead singer resigned and Mark found himself singing instead of playing. Soon after his high school graduation in 1977, Mark started full time with "The Southmen" and then spent a year and a half with "The Kingsmen", ten years with "The Cathedrals," and three years with Greater Vision before relocating to Gadsden, Alabama, home base for Gold City.

Chuck Reyer returns to Crabb Family April 25, 2002
BEAVER DAM, KY(Press Release) - After nearly eight months of searching for the just the right person to step on board as drummer for the Crabb Family, they are very excited to announce that Chuck Reyer has returned! The Crabb Family has made a mark as one of the few Southern Gospel groups to travel with a complete live band. Even though the Crabb Family still has the largest Southern Gospel Band on the road, live drums make the sound complete.
In October, Chuck Reyer married the former Jessica Allgood and returned to his hometown in Mississippi. Chuck also wanted to spend more time with his family, especially his father, who was recovering from some health complications at the time.
After some time of rejuvenation, both the Crabb Family and Chuck felt the Lord leading him back to the road. Chuck's exceptional talent and his walk with the Lord make him fit right in with the Crabb Family. At press time, Chuck's first anticipated date back on the road with the Crabb Family was set for April 18th, 2002.
Tony Gore announces solo ministry April 25, 2002
Effective April 15th Tony Gore, award-winning vocalist, producer, publisher and arranger announced his "new" ministry as a soloist.
Tony Gore was introduced to Southern Gospel audiences in the early 1980's with The Southmen Quartet and the song, "Death Could Not Hold Them." Tony then joined The Wilburns from Carthage, TN and was featured on many of the family group's biggest songs over a period of several years. During this time Tony Gore's unmistakable and instantly recognizable vocal styling became a favorite of Gospel Music fans and industry people alike. Whether on powerful ballads like "God's Promised Land" or "Outside The Gate," or a hand-clapping, toe-tapping straight-ahead barn-burner like, "It's Not So hard To Praise Him After All," Tony's voice singled him out as a noteworthy performer and "one to watch." In 1993 Tony left The Wilburns to pursue a lifelong dream and began his own group, Tony Gore & Majesty. The nine years that followed have made Gospel Music history.
Nine Years of changed lives, charting and sales success ,and the continuation and refinement of what has come to be known as the Tony Gore sound. With classics like "Thank God", "I Know What It's Like", "Meanwhile In the Garden", "I'll Put On A Crown", and "The Prodigal," as well as many other TGM classics, the group has set a high standard within the Southern Gospel industry. Their current album, "Prints" has been their biggest yet! With sales success of the latest project at the greatest level of the group's career, their latest number one song, "Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord" and the current chart topper "Teardrops," Tony Gore says the announcement of his future solo plans is bittersweet.
"I have chosen to do this at the most unusual time. The group is at the highest level it has ever been and there is every reason to carry on. We've always had great people involved: Greg Cook, who now serves as Minister of Music at Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville, NC; Danny Riley with Gold City, as well as his solo ministry; Calvin Thornton and John Lanier with their own evangelistic and church ministries; and Scott Thomas, who is now my pastor. Our current group has been outstanding, which makes this decision even more difficult. But I feel God is leading and I have a great peace about this next step."
Tony Gore will continue to work all the major concerts, as well as his church dates. His recording career will continue, and remain the same. Gospel Music fans can rest assured, the man with the "tear in his voice" will be around for years to come and the sound that fans have come to love will still be at the forefront of Southern Gospel Music.
Tony says, "I look forward to seeing my friends across the country in this new venture. I ask for their prayers and thank them for their support." Tony Gore will continue to record for Promised Land Music and be exclusively represented by The Beckie Simmons Agency of Nashville, TN.
