Naomi & The Segos announce new tenor for group July 26, 2002
(Press Release) - Naomi and The Segos are proud to announce the addition of 24 year old Kasey Kemp as the new tenor singer for the group. Kasey hails from Marion, Illinois and will officially join the group in a couple of weeks.

Kasey replaces Segos tenor Aaron Crisler, who is leaving this legendary Centerville, Georgia based group to devote more time to other interests he has, including his growing website design business.

According to long-time group baritone singer, Scott Spangler, "When Aaron told Naomi and I he was wanting to come off the road, we immediately started thinking of people who would possibly be interested in singing full-time with our group, and the very first person we thought of was Kasey Kemp. We tried out a young man from Georgia, and he sounded great, but the first time Kasey stepped up to sing with us, we knew he was the person God intended on having in our group. Kasey owned his own group in Illinois called Eastern Sky, and he's got a wealth of experience to only be 24! Kasey also surrendered to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and was recently ordained and licensed to preach as well. We are honored to have a fine young man in this organization, and we feel gospel music fans across the nation will fall in love with his singing, as well as his personality. Kasey Kemp truly has a burden for lost souls to be saved, and we are excited about what all the Lord has in store for this ministry".

Aaron Crisler will be staying on with Naomi and The Segos for a couple of more weeks so that Kasey can get relocated to Centerville, Georgia, and plans are for Kasey's first official date with Naom and The Segos will be Friday night, August 16 at the Grand Old Gospel Reunion in Greenville, South Carolina.

Naomi and The Segos record for the Son Sound Music Group Platinum Label. Their latest single, Homecoming Day, written by popular songwriter Jeff Steele, has just been released to radio. George Younce surgery scheduled for Monday July 15th July 11, 2002
George Younce, bass singer of the Cathedrals, will have surgery Monday July 15th to replace his current ICD (pacemaker/defibrillator) to hopefully eliminate the problems he has had the past several months. Ernie Haase, his son-in-law issued the following statement through his newsletter:

"His surgery is set for this next Monday, July 15th. As of now we do not know the time. The whole family had a big meeting this past week and came to this decision together. When George gets back on his feet from this surgery he will not go back to the schedule he had before. Meaning, he will not plan ahead to be at any singing. If he sings it will be a last minute, game time decision, depending on how he feels at that time.

After talking to the Gaither management team this past week Gina and Bill think the best thing for George is to only sing when he wants to. We all feel he has earned this right to "Pick and Choose" his dates based upon how he feels at that time. No pressure on him at all! If he shows up you'll be surprised if he does not feel like it.......well no one is disappointed. Therefore, The Old Friends Quartet will not be booking anymore dates.

I know this will be sad news to some but trust me this is the best for Ole George. He can rest and sing and spend time with his family with no pressure. He can always go with me whenever he wants to and I'm certain Mr. Gaither would move heaven and earth to do the same.

George told me the other night that there has not been a time in the last three months that he has laid down to go to sleep that he wishes he were somewhere else. He said, "Ernie, I have no "Desire." "When God takes away the desire then he gives you a peace to be content right where you are." He also said that if he started feeling better the desire may return but he loves not having the pressure of "having to" perform.

Well, that is about it. I could ramble but there would be no need to. All is good and God is leading once again down a path with road signs that just say "TRUST"

I have peace about this and I feel in my heart the Lord has some wonderful thing ahead. I try to think with my head but my heart gets in the way. Please forgive me for being a dreamer. It's just that the Lord has proved time and again that His ways are not our ways and each time it is sooooooooooooo good!

Oh What A Savior He Is!
Ernie"
